This week I’d like to give a shoutout to @AngryGoTFan over on Twitter. He may be best known for his #NOONEUNDERSTAAANDS (three A’s, mind you) and his meticulous nitpicking of the show, but as a primary source I can vouch for him as good peoples.
I actually met AngryGoTFan at this past year’s CapClave. Like me, he was there to meet GRRM. At one of the GRRM panels there was this guy standing around with a tshirt with Angry Got Fan and the hashtag on it.
“Hey! Cool shirt! I know that Twitter. Love it,” I said to this complete stranger. I’m very extroverted at fandom events.
And it turned out to be the man himself. I was super psyched to meet him because I was a big fan, plus we had a shared opinion of Talisa. He is really chill in real life and was so excited to be there and meet George, you could just feel it coming off of him (confusedgot fan was there as well, shout out).
Anyway, since this post is meant to be appreciative, I wanted to laud him for his assiduous study of the books and lore, which he does just so he knows when they’re going off of canon. He is truly passionate about the series.
Sometimes those of us who complain the loudest do so out of love.
And yeah, AngryGoTFan is a cool guy who, by the way, got to have a morning sitdown with George and apparently got a HUGE spoiler about the books from him. He even offered to tell me but I do not do spoilers, so sorry guys.
Moral of the story is that while we may seem like raging blowhards with a broken CapsLock key on the internet, the Anger Guard of this fandom want to see the show do well, and love to troll and rage when it deviates from ASOIAF. Follow him or ignore him, @AngryGotFan is endlessly entertaining.
